Dental Crowns
Fort Lee Dental Crown Expertise
Dental crowns, or “caps” as they are sometimes called, are placed over teeth that have become damaged or that have too much decay for a small filling to repair. Dental crowns usually replace damaged molars and are custom-made to match the original tooth, before it became damaged or decayed. With the skills of a dental crown expert, such as New Jersey’s own at Zampieri Dental Care, dental crowns (and particularly a porcelain crown) can look, feel and function like natural teeth. A dental crown can also be used as the cap for a dental implant.
What Is The Process for Placing A Dental Crown?
During your visit to our New Jersey office, we will quickly determine whether damage or decay is extensive enough to require dental crowns. If a dental crown is necessary, the damaged or decayed area is removed and a temporary dental crown is placed.
We also take an impression, or model, of your teeth and send that impression/model to a lab. There, a replica of your tooth is made.
During your next visit, the temporary dental crown is removed and the permanent crown is placed over the tooth.
How Long Will Dental Crowns Last?
Dental crowns are made of extremely durable material and, with proper dental hygiene, will last for many years.
What Is The Advantage Of A Porcelain Crown?
Porcelain has translucent qualities very similar to teeth. Thus, a porcelain crown is not only shaped like your natural tooth, it also is color-matched to look like the surrounding teeth. A porcelain crown is generally used for front teeth that are more visible as it will be hard for anyone to tell the difference between a porcelain crown and your natural tooth
